Focus weeks

Focus weeks are a major part of our input into the schools’ RE and collective worship curriculum.
Plasticine Gospel
The Plasticine Gospel

These weeks offer countless opportunities to discuss aspects of the Christian faith with 11-18s and over the past seven years we've regularly taken assemblies and taught lessons in many of the RE departments across the city.

The lessons we teach during these weeks cover a variety of topics and can also be themed to the time of year we are in. Lesson titles include The Church, Injustice, Prejudice, and the Plasticine Gospel to name only a few! The lessons are a great opportunity for the young people to engage in a particular topic and ask any questions that they may not have the chance to ask otherwise.

Assemblies are also a big part of the input into schools. We're looking to get young people thinking through issues for themselves - often at 8.30 in the morning!

It’s exciting to be able to share the Good News about Jesus in relevant ways, perhaps by using Air Zookas, amazing hankies or everyone’s favourite - the cow's tongue.

In all that we do we aim to show young people the Christian faith in action - how does it work in our lives? Perhaps this will provoke some reaction in their own thinking.
